Headers/Cam question
Hello.
I have a 2000 sierra 5.3. CAI,Nelson tune, true dual exhaust with highflow cats and flowmaster 40's. Was getting interested in headers... from what i've read longtubes are the way to go. Just looking for some advice on if I should do it or not. Would they do anything even though I already have a true dual system? (basically everything BUT headers).
And whats your opinion on cams? Does it increase a lot of power and how much are they roughly??
Truck has 220,000km on it. In miles I think its somewhere around 136,000.

It depends on how much of a gain you are looking for. Adding headers can gain you a little more some say up to 20 hp when matched to the exhaust system. and the cam can gain you a little depending on weather you want it off the bottom or top end of your power band. If you are looking for a big difference you need to look at forced induction either superchargers or turbos. Either will give you up to about a 40% gain in power. The drawback is that such an increase in power also puts more stress on the rest of the drivetrain.
