Default Heater is weak

It got cold this weekend and I noticed my heater wasn't blowing very hot when cranked up. The blend door works cause you can feel the difference between some heat and no heat. The blower seems fine. It just doesn't get very warm, I'd say 70-75 degrees coming out of the vent.

Any suggestions? I was going to flush the sh*t out of the cooling system this weekend to see if that helps.

Now the lower temp thermostat does hinder the heat a little, but it still should get warmer than that. Least it did this past winter.

Oh and this weekend I figure my gas mileage out, 20.1 on average! Thats some city and mostly highway miles. Love that motor!

Really nice mileage man especially with the little bolt ons you got.

If you know the blender doors arent getting stuck then take a look at your heater core, mine did the same thing till it eventually didnt push any hot air and I had to remove it. Good thing I live in Hawaii. ^_^

Is there anyway to avoid replacement you think? Like if I flush the system out now I could spare the heater core? I hope so cause heard the heater cores on these things are a b*tch!

Damn hard to say really, you could spend the money to flush it in a attempt to see if that would save it but if it doesnt then I think your stuck with replacement. :S But at least they arent too much these days now I believe, I think ebay or some other places online might have them between $50-120.

I did like Argon said and felt the two lines running into the heater core when I got home from work. They were both hot. I think that I just forgot how long it took to warm up with the 180 stat this past week since the weather has been warm lately. Then when it got cold again I didn't realize how long it took to warm up. Well I am glad I didn't go with a 160 stat.

I think I will flush the cooling system out in the fall anyway to be safe. By then I'll have around 90K or so on the clock anyways.
