HELP! Dual Exhaust Question
Hi, i've got a '98 silverado with the 5.7L 350. I' ve got true duals with a cat and a 14" glasspack on each. I'm debating whether I should cut the cats out completely or buy high flow cats. The truck sounds great as it is, but could use more loudness. I dont want to cut the cats off if it will be TOO loud and get pulled over all the time. But on the other hand i dont want to buy high flow cats if they arent going to make it much louder to even notice. Please help! any information would be helpful. Thanks
"too loud" depends on what police department you talk to... i thought about hi-flow cats, but 500 per for magnaflows was just too much for me to swallow, so i hacked mine off... i had a buddy with no cats and two glasspacks (dont know the length) and it wasnt all that loud... i wouldn't recommend revving on a cop car... but... well, it really just depends on where you live i guess
oh, and i was told by the muffler shop that put my muffler and tips on that hi-flow cats are mostly a gimmick... but he also didn't recommend headers so maybe he just didn't want to do it
