Question Help, frame to body bolt turning

hi
installed nurf step bars with 3 bolts each side to body mount bolts. one bolt, (center pass side) just spins, won't go in and won't come out. Anyone know if there is a nut on top or if it threads directly into frame? Also, how to get to the nut if there is one. body trim doesn't seem to come out easily. 2010 1500LT 4wd extended cab

thanks
Ray

try to put some pressure on it (pry down while you spin). i have that problem on occasion putting nerf bars on.

Thanks, that was my first thought, but there's not enough of the bolt head to get under with a pry bar etc. Funny, but it spins unevenly for about 1/2 turn and then gets a little tight and then turns easily again...sure is strange.

Its probably a carriage bolt...you know the ones with the square shank just below the head. Can you just cut it off?
