I wanted to get one for my 91. Supposedly you get great throttle response and top end from these things. Stock TBI units are only 450 or so CFM. And I know from experience that doing larger injectors without boring or replacing the TBI unit won't do sh*t compared to buying the entire aftermarket TBI unit. I got torque but NO topend gain from doing just the injectors.

You might need a tune (PROM?) of some kind to make the most of it. My buddy who did the vortec heads for me years ago told me to get one. Between the heads and the 600+ CFM TB, you get a great running truck.

If you need a PROM go to TBIchips.com.

I never changed my throttle body on my 90 model chevy, but I did put the Edelbrock intake on it. Intake made a big difference. And I ran a Hypertech thermomaster chip... plus a few other mods.

right now it has the JET stage 2 chip on it, i've also got edlebrock headers, volant intake, flowtech muff, "Highflow" cat, and an msd coil. i might take the thrattle bodie to the machine shop i used to work at and see if they can bore it out. i heard that the holleys are prone to bad injectors

I do that on the 90 models and up they put the bigger throttle bodies off the 454 onto the 5.0 and 5.7's which is bigger than the 89 and earlier models. So how much bigger is the Holley. I seen throttle bodies that were already opened up for a reasonable price on ebay, but that has been a while back.

Don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure a 454 TB is still under 600 CFM.

Even though they are quick, if you pulled out the 454 motor in an SS Silverado and threw in a slightly modified 5.3, you would have roughly the same performance. (Being as that my uncle had a 454 SS and now he has a 2WD 5.3 Silverado. He said once it was tuned it ran like the 454).
