ok so how can i figure out what type of rear end gearin i have along with front the rpo code says its 3.42 in my daily driver
but i got the rear end from the 92 i am uusing as a donor truck and i want to see if its higher gearing if so its goin under my truck soon
i think if i count the ring gear and the spider and divide it into each other it should tell me
but if theres an easier way that would be good
3.73 is a good gear for towing if its that ill be one happy guy plus the rear end of the donor truck has 125xxx miles so it wont be as worn out as my daily driver axle

 

Mark a spot on the axle and on the yoke. Spin either one and see how far the other moves. Also if your truck is 4wd remember the front and rear axle ratio's have to match.

Also, the 3.42 isn't a bad gear. Decent power, it'll pull ok but the key being fuel economy.

ive tried sellin it so i think ill keep it around until i get around to putting under
