Default I have a question.

Ive been vigorously looking for trucks in my area lately and one caught my eye.

Its a 2004 Dodge Ram SLT 4 door and 4WD i dont know if its the 4.7 or 5.7 V8 but its a nice truck it just has no windsheild wipers dents and scratches that i can easily buff out.

they are asking 4700 its at a dealership.

Does anyone know common problems with this year dodge?

If it is the 4.7 run away from it. Do a google search for 4.7 problems and you can read them till you go blind. They have an issue I think with the lubrication system and people are having to replace/rebuild engines all the time. I found this out while at a friends car lot. He asked me if I wanted to buy a nice Dodge truck. He knows I am a Chevy guy so I asked him what he was talking about. He took me around back to show me a real nice looking crew cab 4X4. He said I could buy it for $2500. Long story short - with 88,000 miles it needed a motor. I was still tempted because it was THAT nice so I did some research on the motor and with all the complaints I read I figured I would stay away from it. I am not sure if the 5.7 was affected the same way.

Dodge had its problems with traansmissions. ALL Dodge trucks up to 06-07 had common issues with the HVAC mechanical blend door, recirc doors, temp doors. All of with use electrical servo motors as opposed to vacuum operated servo motors. Prematuer failures that give the owners fits trying to get them repaired or attempting to replace themselves. Trust me I've been there.
