Im So Lost....
right now im in a rut.....
i can either get a 2004 Dodge Ram 4 door with the 4.7 (im eventually swapping it with my chevy 4.8 engine and trans) for 4200
or i can get a couple dodge cummings diesels 5.9 Straight 6 or 8 for around 5 thousand
suggestions?
i would love to get a duramax but noone is selling theirs for my price range

Good luck with it. Read up on that motor real well. I found a couple sites when I was considering buying the one with the bad motor that gave some pointers on extending the life of them. I think it was something to do with oil types and more frequent changes, but don't quote me on that. I would also get it checked real well. A 2004 truck for that money could very well already be showing signs of failure and they are trying to dump it on someone. I hope not, but just be careful.

its going for that price because it has no bumper the tailgate is dented theres some dents on the side and theres no windshield wipers or radio. shes a fixer upper but i like it and its at a dealer thats also throwing in a 3 months power train warranty engine transmission and rear (im very good with words for being 17 and i talked him down from the 5000 he was asking too :P)
but i took my meter with me and testing kits and the engine is perfect the trans shifts very smooth and the 4WD works without a flaw.
and with this engine due to the thinner walls gunk likes to build up all i have to do is change the oil with synthetic high mileage oil and ill be fine and im adding an additive that works like a super lube (prolong engine treatment) im throwing that stuff in my trans and my engine.

ill do a truck or engine swap.
to me the duramax is the best sounding and running truck diesel around and i like the way dodge rams look so ill be basically running a chevy drivetrain with ram body a pretty damn good truck to me
but if i can get my hands on a full chevy duramax that would be ALOT better but thats not going to be for a while since im attending automotive college and im not 18 till august
