And popo, I don't know if our intakes are different but that "silencer box" (is that correct?) is formed into the intake by a kindof teardrop shaped chamber. At first I thought it was round with a fin on it, but now I'm pretty sure I couldn't just cap it with something round.

Your engine is twice the size of mine so you are probably right. what i was reffering to is attached to the intake. it is a box that says vortec on it and is held on with a clamp. all i did was unclamp it and remove that box/silencer and insert a spray paint can lid in the hole and clamp it back down. I hope this helped. sorry i did n't notice the engine size difference sooner.
