interior wiring

Default interior wiring

i have a 1988 silverado i just bought the power windows and door locks do not work.i have power at the fuse for both but they dont work.has any one had this trouble with one and if so what could be the problem!!!

First I would see if you have voltage going to the actual components. If you havent replaced the old wiring that goes from your supply to components, there could be a problem. Also check to make sure your ground is good.

i know its an old post, but so is the truck...ive been looking every where, and taking apart everything...
Fuses,work, power is getting to the right parts...

It was so simple i was shocked i didnt think of it at first....

the truck is old so is the wiring, and constant opening the doors and closing since the truck rolled off the assembly line, has pinched the wires leading from door to inside, making them pinch or peel or break and loose connection....

I found the wires and patched them up,wrapped in elec. tape and wrapped insulation around it(cheap stuff)
and WHAMO! it works! i was the 2nd owner and the 1st said after 5yrs it quit...wow, 20' some odd years of something stupid..

And the Steering column, omg! stupid bolt/screws, chevy did NOT apply locktite to the threading, making it loose and wiggle out causing the problem....
wehat next chevy...
