Intermittent Misfire
aw yes the evil temp sensors that will also cause alot of the problems your havingthere are two of them on your truck on on the driver side of the engine i belive that sends info to the guage and on on the top of the engine next to the inlet for the coolant hose i believe that one sends info to the computer
Doing some more research, a list of things I haven't done yet:
Coolant Temp Sensor (1 on driver side, 1 on top) (rough when hot only)
IAC valve (clean and RESET)
Vacuum Hose/Connection Leak
-vacuum hose TO MAP sensor (raw fuel symptom)
o2 sensors
tps sensor
Connector @ MAP sensor
bad grounds @ thermostat
Last resorts/Least likely?:
Brake Booster
Distributor
Head gasket
cam position sensor
catalytic converter

The sensor on the side of the head only controls the gauge so if your gauge is working properly don't worry about changing that one. I would check the free stuff first - vacuum lines, grounds, and IAC cleaning.
