IT'S ALIIIIVE!
Well I am replacing the air intake duct but I am not replacing it with the SLP intake. I don't have the SS ram air hood so it would not be nearly as beneficial to me as the K&N cold air intake I already have. Went to the Chevy dealer today and they told me that most likely I had a vacuum leak but that a bad IAC motor or TPS could also cause the problem. I'lllet ya'll knowwhen I get it figured out.
Well now I don't know what to do. I took the throttle body off and took the IAC valve out and tested it with an ohm meter like my Chilton's manual tells me to. It tested fine like that. Another guy said you could plug it into the wiring harness and turn the the car on to see whether or not the IAC valve moves like it's supposed to. I don't know if he meant to just turn the ignition to the on position or to actually try to start the thing. What do ya'll think about that?
Also, I bought another intake elbow from the dealer as well as a new throttle body gasket. Went ahead and reinstalled everything just to see if maybe the air intake tube might have been the problem. Now it is worse. It was idleing at 1,500rpm before. When I started it up tonight, the idle went straight to 1,500rpm. I let it run for a bit and it started getting worse. The idle krept up to about 2000rpm and then started having these spells where it would chug and bog down to about 1000rpm acting like it was gonna stall out for a few seconds then go back up to 2000rpm. I was told you can spray carburator cleaner around the air intake manifold and vacuum hoses to see if there is a vacuum leak. I don't know if throttle body cleaner works the same but I didn't have carb cleaner so I did this with throttle body cleaner and I didn't notice any differences. I am not sure but I don't think it is a vacuum leak. I think it has something to do with the stuff I've been messing with cause now it is worse after cleaning it and replacing the air intake elbow. I REALLY need some advice on what to do here. I'm gonna jack it up and check some of the vacuum lines that run along the bottom front of the engine tomorrow morning and see if there are any cracks or leaks there. I also intend to check the secondary air system out real well even though the guys at the dealer said if it failed or leaked that wouldn't make it idle that high (might as well check everything I can).

Well I checked the rest of the vacuum lines that I could get to. I found a metal line that ran from the front of the intake manifold below the throttle body, to thedriver side of the intake manifold that was loose on one end. I took it out, cleaned it, and RTVed it real good. After putting everything back together it is still idleing at 2000rpm but not doing the bog and try to stall out thing. I really need some advice on this.
Well I tried unplugging it and running the car without it to see if it was working or not. The car idles at 1600rpm rather than 2000rpm when I do that and also the SES light comes on. Plug it back in and it's back up to 2000rpm and chugging every few seconds again. Is there actually a way to test the TPS?
Well I just replaced the IAC. Same problem. Still idleing at 2000rpm. What is the best way to find a vacuum leak? I could really use some help with this.[:@]
If anyone has a clue, I'd be greatful!

Just out of curisioty have you tested the map sensor? It may have a pinhole leak in it some how. I would take the vacuum pump to it so u can test it manually. Simple test may not be the problem but a good thought. Have you tried posting this problem at a camaro board? You might get a little better help.
Yeah actually I've posted at several Camaro sites and found little to no help. I guess everyone else is equally as stumped. Argon said he didn't think it was the MAP, but if it's easy to test then it couldn't hurt. How would I test that? What is a vacuum pump?
