What is an inexpensive way to level out the front end of my Chev 1500? Any Ideas?

 

Crank up on hte torsion bars and gt an alignment. And if you can not crank on the torsion bars and get it level then go to a truck assessory shop that does installation and then also get an alignment. Or if it is a 2X4 then by a front end lift kit and instal it.

 

buy a leveling kit. very cheap way to go.

buy larger torsion keys from a local parts store or offline. You should be able to find some for under a $100. Then get a shop to install them. shouldnt cost you much at all. i did the same thing to my 01' sierra and the final bill was $130. Looks great too.

 

How easy is it to install leveling keys?

 

you have to have a special tool so if you don't have it, that obviously hurts. Other than they are not that bad.

I took mine to a shop just because my font end was pretty rusted up and I didn't want to buy the tool. It only cost me an hour of labor.

 

the concept of installing the new keys is relatively simple, but actually doing it w/o the right tools is where it gets tricky. the easies way to do it is to support the front end w/ jack stands w/ the wheels off the ground. then loosen the original keys. now once this is done the keys still have torsion on them and this is where the special tool comes in to place. on every key, there is an additional spot where pressure is applied until u can get the retaining "nut" out and then release the pressure and slide the torsion bar forward, remove old key, install new key and begin assembly. if you do not have access to the special tool, sometimes a carefully placed puller will do the job. good luck.
