Lift Kits
i have an 01 GMC 1500 and i want to put a suspension lift on it i was looking at a rough country lift kit 6" or 4". i would like to go 6" because it cost the same as a 4" and it would look awesome but the only thing i'm worried about is the MPG does it go down a lot? and how do they drive with a 4"-6" lift?

ive ridden nd driven lifted trucks.. some have ridden well and others not so well... it really depends on the quality of components in the kit you install... the mpg decrease doesnt come from the lift, but from the increase in tire size.. normally to compensate you increase (numerically) the ring nd pinion gear ratio.. say from 3.43:1 to something like 4.10:1 or higher... this allows you to maintain engine rpm to keep power to the wheels while running larger tires... when you go toward 6" lifts or larger, you run into other problems, such as binding/tearing brake lines, wearing out brushings, etc. that will cause problems down the road, though some people have good luck as long as they keep it 6" or below.. i drove a 2008 silverado 1500 with a 6" lift and i believe 325mm tires and it rode fine, just a little inner fender rub with the nittos... good luck! hope this helps

It all depends on the kit you get. Some kits are strictly a lift and thats it. Other kits lift your truck and still alow you to use the truck for workin or playin.
Again, depends on the kit.
And yes your MPG does go down the drain when you put bigger tires on it, If you dont change your gearing. If you dont change your gearing and just put bigger tires on it, your engine has to work that much hard to spin those bigger tires/wheels.
