Default Light next to front turn signal? (2003)

Hello. I have a 2003 silverado, and was wondering what the lights are next to my front turn signal. I can't make them work, and don't know what they do. Could somebody clue me in on what they are? Its a single cab 6 cylinder if that helps.

Thanks,
Jason

I think your looking at the daytime running lights. They only work when in Drive during the day. If they still don't come on check the bulbs. Those lights are bulb eaters due to how hot they get. My wife's yukon has gone through 2 sets in the last year. They also will turn off if the e-brake is engaged (even just a couple clicks). Hope this helps.

I really think that my low beams run as my daytime running lights. I changed the bulbs. One looked burned, but the filaments looked ok. The plugs on both of them looked a little burned. They weren't melted, but did look like they got a little hot. As far as I know, they haven't for the 2 years I've had the truck. Ill check it out some more tomorrow in the daylight. Thanks.

Ok, so I'm pretty sure now that you were correct about the daytime running lights. Either my windows are tinted too dark or my sensor isn't quite sensitive enough to the light. I tricked it by putting a flashlight to it and my low beams turned off. But anyhow, my daytime running lights still didn't come on. I found a fuse under the hood labeled drl which I assume is the daytime running lights, but it isn't blown. There is a gray box next to the fuse also labeled drl which I think may be a relay? I'm going to see about getting a new one, and if that don't work then the only thing I can think of is that the plugs may be bad.

I have a question. So when I turn my left turn signal on my day time running lights come on and low glow with my blinker and not just one but both. Also when I press my horn the left turn signal on the dash stays on. So far the only thing that I have found bad is my drive side battery is a little bit bad and for the last bit my left side blinker freaks out when ever any of the lights come on.
