Default Location of Knock Sensor on 2500 HD

Hello, I am new to the forum and I found it in searching for help.

I just acquired a 2007 Chevy 2500 HD WT with a 6.0 L Vortec gas engine. It has the CEL light on so I had an auto parts store check the codes and they said there were several including misfires and knock sensor. It runs fine and I don't notice any rough running.

My questions are:
1. At some point GM moved the knock sensor from under the intake to the side of the block. I found several places on the web that said they did this in 2007 models. I have searched all over the side of the block and I don't see it. So either someone changed the engine to an older Gen 3 or my information is wrong. How can I tell what generation my engine is?
2. Can someone with a 2007 2500 6 Lt, please tell me if you have a knock sensor on the side of the block?
3. I want to test the knock sensor (wherever it is) without removing the intake. Where is the wiring harness connector for the sensor. I am aware of a couple of test that I would like to try but I don't know where the connector is.
4. Could a bad fuel cap cause the knock sensor and the misfire error?
5. Should I try to figure out the misfire issue first and see if this fixes the knock sensor error?
6. The guy at the parts store said they are not allowed to reset the code but he said I could do it by disconnecting the battery. I tried it and he is incorrect. Ho can I reset it myself? Can I do it with a code reader and if so, can you make a recommendation on which one I should buy without spending a ton of cash?

Sorry for so many questions and thanks for any input
Rick
