Looking at a 2003 1500....need advice...new to Chevy
Joined the forum today and hopefully will be a Chevy owner here soon....
I've been looking at a 2003 Silverado 1500 stepside regular cab Orange with 20 inch black rims. Nice looking truck with grey interior. Its got 59k on it right now and they are asking 13998.
The price seems a little high...I was thinking more like 10500 to 11500. Any input on that is greatly appreciated.
Took it for a drive and runs nice. The paint is clean as well as the interior. Just a crack on the fold down center console but no biggie. Only thing I noticed was there was a "Service airbag" warning in the digital display.
Engine is clean and no evidence of drip, leaks etc. One owner truck.
Anything you can provide as far as advice, info on anything to look for I'd greatly appreciate it. My current truck is a Dodge 3500 MegaCab diesel that im going to be selling as i dont really need it any longer and want to buy a truck outright for what I clear off of this truck.

I'd get that airbag warning checked out. Could have been wrecked. You can check the blue book on line and I wouldn't pay more than they say it's worth. Make a reasonable offer and be ready to walk away. You'll be surprised what someone will take when they see the money walking away. Good luck.

Yeah its higher than bluebook and did a carfax and it came back clean. No wrecks no salvage etc. Going down tomorrow to talk with them. Sold my truck and walking in with 9k so ill see what happens.
The wifes on board too so thats already a plus....LOL

Just got a call from the auto shop. Mechanic said the water pump is leaking and needs to be replaced (300.00) and the airbag sensor looks to be about 400 to 500 bucks. He'll need to dismantle the column to accuretly diagnose it but thats a good estimate for the repair. Other than that he said the truck is good.
Now decision time..........obviously 13900 is way to much for the truck given the repairs. So at least I have some "wiggle" room. Ideally id like to have them pay for the repairs and drop the price a bit. We will see.
