looking at buying 2009 1500 or 2500

Hi all I am looking at getting a new 2009 silverado. Is there any known issues with the 2009 model? Like early 2000 chevy v8 had wrist pin rattle or the dodge trany going at 50,000 miles. thanks for any info.

I take it from no replys from anyone that no one knows anything about the chevy trucks.

Most of the guys here aren't too familiar with the 09 trucks. I would say go for it because everyone I've talked to has been perfectly happy with their truck and on top of it all....They look sweet

RE: looking at buying 2009 1500 or 2500

I have an '08 1500, 5.3L, 4WD. I have about 3600 miles on it. So far, so good. No issues yet. I understand there's a 5 spd auto available now. Or maybe it's 6 spd. Anyway, that's the only difference I can see from what I've read. I would definitely recommend getting the 5.3L over the 4.8. Mileage will probably be better with the larger engine because of the active fuel management. I can knock down about 17.5 MPG average.

I was a little apprehensive because I owned an F150 & got pretty high, trouble-free miles from it. But I loved the way the Silverado/Sierras looked. No complaints yet. My advice is to look around a while. I found a great deal by not rushing in. Finally found what I wanted cheaper than a slightly-used truck.

Honestly, if you get a good warranty with it,there isn't much to worry about is there?

I never heard any bad news yet about 09 silverado so I guess it's a good choice.

2009 Silverado

I just got a 2009 regular cab with 4x4. Only has 300 miles on it but I really like it.

I bought an 09 crew cab 5.3 4X4 LTZ. The truck is fantastic. So far I am getting 20 MPG on the highway at 70MPH. I have the factory 20"rims on it as well. I put full synthetic Amsoil in the engine and am planning on switching all the fluids to Amsoil. Highly recommended truck

Got my 2009 Z71 4x4 in Feb, I now have 17k miles on it, no real issues to note. 1 of the bolts that holds the tailgate handle worked a little loose, that's about it. I know, 17k, it's a lot, it's a daily driver with a 100 mile round trip commute.

I had an '07 2500 and now have an '09 1500. I really like both trucks. I now have the 5.3 with a six speed. Other than an occasional clunk at very low speeds, they work great together. I only have about 4500 miles on it so far but it's a keeper for sure. The only reason I got rid of the 2500 was that I didn't need the towing capacity any longer. It was a great truck for the purpose but more than I needed for what I do now.

I bought an 09 silverado 5.3l LT. Has intermittent knock at start up but dealer said not to worry. Have 4000 miles and love it. MPG could be better. Best Ive got is 17 but I deal with elevation changes and lots of wind on my commute to work.

I wondered if anyone else had that experience with the low end clunking. Soooooo, I'm not alone.

no clunking here just knocking at start up every now and then.

tranny noises

i have an 09 1500 and every time i shift from drive to reverse...or the other way around...the tranny makes all kinds of noise...you can actually hear all the gears shift and also hear the rearend shift? its really noticeable...is that normal?

chubby maddox 10-29-2009 07:37 AM

I bought an 09' last November and it's been great. I have 11,500kms and have had only one issue. There is a wind noice at 60km/hr coming from the front windshield area. I have just noticed it so I do not know the cause. The gas mileage is unreal. At 100km/hr (60mph) I have gotten 25mpg and at 130km/hr (80mph) I get 19mpg. I know some people will not beleive this but I test it almost everytime I fill up. I use a government issue MPG finder so it should be accurate. Plus I have the factory 20" wheels on it. Great truck. Highly recommended.

Got my 07 Z71 Silverado 5.3, in march 07, has 47k on it. have never had any issues with it. I experience the start up knock just when cold, i figured it just does it till the oil gets pumping thru the system. Don't really get the great gas mileage, maybe due to the 3.73's, or my lead foot, but what the hell I love hearing those flowmasters....lol!!!
