Default Loud Backlash

Hi, I'm a newbie and have a question.
I have a 2008 Crew, 4.8, 3.23 gear AT. When I'm just rolling to a stop and sometimes come to a complete stop, I hear a sound in the rear end that sounds and feels just like having a 1 7/8" ball with a 2" tongue. It just has started and since I bought it in Oct. 2008 I don't have long before the warranty is out! I've just pulled a motorcycle trailer with it twice since I had it. Is this a common problem?

Thanks in advance.

Default U Joint?

If you are lucky it is just a U joint. If you have a two piece driveline, check the carrier bearing on the driveline.
Bushings get sloppy, the plates the leaf springs sit in bend, the list is endless.

No, it doesn't sound anything like a u-joint. I can get off and on the gas and no popping sound or vibration when I drive. It sounds like my differential. Most of the time it'll do it when I'm barely rolling to a stop..bang! What is weird to me is sometimes when I'm completely stopped it will do it! I've owned GM most all my life and a few others but never experienced this sound. I wonder if it has anything to do with a locking differential?

Anyway it only has 26,000 miles.

Thanks

This is very difficult to guess what it could be with out seeing or experiencing it in person. First off... You need to race into the dealership and report the issue before your warranty runs out.. and even after the warranty runs out, they still need to fix the problem if it's not fixed because it was reported within the warranty coverage.
Could be a number of problems.
Ring and pinion problem
Spider gear problem

Keep us updated

If I had to guess I would think it's the ring and pinion or spider gear. Yes, I will be sure to bring it to the dealer. I can't find all my paper work but I bought it in October 2008 and hope their warranty goes from the day I bought in and nor the manufactuer's date!

Thanks
