Default My baby won't squeal

Hey guys, I have an 04 Z71 sportside reg cab. It has the 4.8L in it. When I take off from a dead stop and I mash it, the tires won't spin or even chirp on dry pavement. It hesitates, then starts to move. It's a sport side...so being really light in the back with a fiberglass box, I thought for sure that it should be able to burn some rubber off the line. Any others having this problem? Not sure if I should take it in to get it looked at. I just got a Magnaflow cat back system on it, sounds great now, but I can't even show off to my buddies when I take off... Can ya help?

The Z71's have a beefier frame - don't let the stepside fool you - it's still a very heavy truck. There's also a lot of torque management that is controlled by the PCM that kills low end torque. Add to that you probably still have the stock torque converter. Throw a 2600 stall converter in there and you'll go through tires pretty quickly.

Get a custom tune done. I got the extended cab z71 4x4 with the 5.3 and after I got my tune done it would roast the tires so easily. I actually took the truck back a week after I got it done and got him to put the tranny pressure back at stock settings cause I figured I would blow something up!!!

I think SC-chevy is taking some new schooling. He said he was changing jobs, so I assume that is it, just too busy.
