Need Help With Valve Adjusting
So i have a 2000 Chevy 2500 with a 5.7 350. The intake and headgaskets were leaking so decided to start ripping the motor apart and freshen up the top end.
So everything is all back together now with new gaskets and the head is all back together minus the rockers and push rods with re ground valves and cleaned up but it has all the same valve train. Now i'm at the point of adjusting the valves and my question is:
Do i need to go through the process of rotating the crank to TDC and adjust 1,3,4,8 and then 1,2,5,7 and then rotate the crank to BDC and do 2,5,6,7 and then do 2,4,6,8? Or can i leave the crank and everything where its at and adjust the valves as it sits now as i never touched the crank and only took the heads off.
If someone could answer my question thatd be great.
Thanks
Tyler

Well the heads were stripped and the valves are lapped in and all closed now so i would have to adjust them but could i just adjust them to the crank right now ?

Tyler, you shouldn't have to adjust them because that motor uses hydraulic lifters. Here is how to do it if you'd like the piece of mind. Roll the motor over until you get your timing marks lined up and Cylinder #1 is at tdc. Tighten exhaust rockers on cylinders 1, 2, 7, & 8; tighten intake rockers on cylinders 1, 3, 4, & 5. Roll the motor over completely once (360°) Then tighten the rest. Your torque spec is going to be 22 ft. lbs.
