It depends on who you ask ...somepeople take offense at the word ...others wear it as a badge of pride. I've got friends of mine from Louisiana ...they hate the word "coonass" ...but their family members all call themselves that ...

Cracker is often used as a derogatory (sp) name in Florida....supposedly to ensite shame from the days of slavery and the crack of the whip....My family knows it from "cracking" corn and cornfields.
