Not really GM related but close.........
Ok so I have a round 5 post trailer plug on my suburban and trailer.........I am going to put 2 lights in my trailer, each only require 6v each. The question is how do I reduce 12v to 6v so I dont burn up these lights? Basicly I am going to run 12v to the trailer then put in a switch to operate the lights then from the lights I will go to each light. Any ideas or things I should change?
Probably the cheapest way to do it is to put a resistor in series with the bulb. If you measure the resistance of the bulb and and put a resistor in series with the same resistance, you should drop 1/2 the voltage across the resistor and 1/2 across the bulb. Of course, you have to get a resistor with a high enough wattage to handle the current. Give me the resistance and I can give you the wattage you need. It would be a whole lot cheaper and easier to get a 12v bulb.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Before you think cheap think dependable, nothing is worse than to be on the road
and start blowing fuses and repairing wiring problems with trailers and your tow vehicle.
Can the 6 volt idea and just use 12 volts and save yourself a lot of grief latter.
