oil filter gasket blowing out

oil filter gasket blowing out
Hi
I'm trying to sort out my BIL oil problem
it's getting worst.
the turck is a early 1999 k1500, 4x4, 5.7, w/oil cooler.
the first time was in the summer (of 2006?) truck was run 2hrs, off for 2 hrs, startup and blew the oil filter gasket. didn't repeat this for a while (not sure exactly how long)
lately it's happening more often, usually at cool temp (20-30 degrees) the oil gauge pins (100psi?) and gasket blows out.
oil changes are done by a garage not 100% sure of the oil weight
so he put in 5/30 , still blows out .not always, but make you not want to drive it anywhere it will be shut off for anytime .
Another thing is somtimes it has a lifter noise on startup, like some of them bleed down and take 10 minutes to build up . they hammer quite a bit.
I appreciate any input on this
thanks Rod
going out to do some snowblowing ,thought I'd be getting the "toy" cars out by now[sm=smiley18.gif]

RE: oil filter gasket blowing out
i have the exact same problem. same lifter noise, same oil pressure pinned. except mine now got to the point where it keeps the pressure pinned and sounds like no oil is getting to the engine. I removed the oil filter adapter and oil cooler to see if there was a blockage. none found. I think it may be some type of blockage in the main oil gally. I am now going to go outside and remove the oil presure switch (because it is tapping the main oil gally), and try blowing it through using commpressed air. let me know if you find anything out. thanks
