Dannyman,
I have had my Superchips for a while now and it has done a good job. My MPG have gone up... of course depending on how I drive, but over all my MPG have not changed, but my power has increased with out any sacrafice. The Superchips Flashpaq I have is a programmer (with different settings), a d=code reader and can be updated online to have the current updates or other settings for your truck. It is a good started kit I guess is what I am trying to say. I am now ready to upgrade to a full tune, but have not done so.
Having a handheld tuner allows you to make changes as you play with your truck, but on the down side it does not give you the full potential your truck can have since the tuner companies keep it in the safety perameters.
A full tune will give you the greatest gains, but if you want to make adjustments as you go a long then you have to have to make an appointment with the guy who tuned your truck to do a retune or adjustment.
So there are ups and downs for using both types of tuners (handheld or permanent tune). Hope this helps.
I also forgot to mention thast in the tune settings there is also a tune for towing mode. I scratch my head when it comes to that tune since your truck has a tow mode button. Anyhow I personally have only towed a few times at a short distance and have liked the end results, but someone on another post has a Superchips also and has mentioned about using it to tow. I remember he had good results. Hope this helps.

Thanks Timber...

I'll check out the Superchips. Appreciate the response.

Not really looking to beef up the truck horsepower-wise, but a company advertising fuel savings and horsepower increase seems like a no-brainer if true! Just checking...

Not a problem. Check Craigslist. I have seen teh Superchips Flash Pak on there. And if you get 1 whether it is Super/ Hypertech or any of the above be sure you can run updates on the internet. Buying a regular handheld like I did the 1st time is a waste of time and money.
