rule out the pump if it assists one way...

its gotta be the gear,or the linkage binding due to a stick or something

I also beleive that the steering box has to be replaced . I spoke with a GM mechanic yesterday and he told me that there was a service bulletin on this particular issue and that he has replaced quite a few of these.He also told me that the replacement box has been updated.

Thread revival!

I have been researching all over for this exact problem. My truck does the exact same thing only I have no assist steering to the right, but perfect steer to the left. Did replacing the steering box fix the issue?
