Hi I have a 2002 silv and im looking to upgrade with a programer. Ive been looking around but dont know too much on this topic. Does anyone reccomend a particlar brand?

 

I don't recommend any programmers, get a custom tune.

 

Custom tunes are the way to go now a days. I think they have a link to nelson and wheatly in a thread, just not sure which one anymore though lol

 

If you like to screw with the settings and try new things with performance and fuel, get a Predator. This will give you the most parameters to modify, and if that isn't enough there are professional tuners on their website forum that will email you fixes and performance tunes for free. If you want the most power for the money and you don't need to change the settings or screw with anything, then get a custom tune. Wester and Nelson are good names and they give you a bunch of options to choose from with performance settings.

 

Not trying to start anything, but why is everyone here hung up on "custom tunes" aka (mail order tunes). I cant see the benefits of these over hand held tuners (atleast Predator or SCT tuners). Maybe you guys can tell me why the mail order tunes would be better. I always thought a custom tune is when you took your vehicle to a shop and they built a tune and dyno tested for the best results on your vehicle, not just shipping you a generic tune to your specs through the mail. Maybe I just look at itthisway because I live in VIrginia Beach, VA andI have a local dyno shop that sells and tunes Predators and SCT tuners. Now back to theoriginal question starting this thread, if you have a local shop thedoes custom tunes for Predator and SCT go with one of those. You are goingto pay more money for those than one of the mail order tunes, but you will have the stock setting plusone custom tunewith the Predator and 3 custom tunes with SCT.
