Default problems with my 96 k1500

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction on repairing my truck .First start of the the day my truck starts and drives fine, I love my truck in the morning, but after I drive it and and then go to leave I crank it up it cranks excessively and then starts eventually and then I go to put in gear it jerks into drive I take off then it shifts hard into second I just had the trans rebuilt so I don't think it is anything to do with the trans.
Somebody please give me some advice this truck is driving me crazy!
Thanks.

Might be a vaccum problem after it warms up but not sure where that would fit in with the long cranking to start problem.
