A 1996 should be a 6.5 turbo diesel.

 

alright, so now, just to keep floggin a dead horse, do you know what trucks would take that motor, as just a simple engine swap??

and do you know where i can find specs on that motor?

 

That's a hard question to answer, because with enough fabrication it could probably be used in just about any truck. The easiest swap would be a truck of the same era/bodystyle which includes the fullsize blazers, yukons, suburbans, silverado's, and sierra's. That motor was available in all those trucks at one point so factory parts are out there. At the same time I would highly recommend just finding a factory diesel truck, if that is what you want, it will save you a lot of frustration and aggravation. As far as specs I would just do an internet search and I am sure you will find more info than you care to read. Good luck!
