Default a question ya'll are tired of hearin im sure. (truck dies)

ok my 1990 sierra 2wd with a 4.3 v6 will start and as long as im pumpin the gas. it'll idle and then slow down till it dies in about 10 seconds. it also billows whit smoke if that helps. just got it and the guy said he replace the fuel filter. i put a new pump relay to get it to do this much. i got the bed of the truck off cause im also cleanin the rust off the frame. any ideas? ive replaced the air filter. i searched on here but either the question others had wasnt exactly like mine or the guy never replied back what he did. it has that throttle injection with 2 injectors. thanks.

Yeah that sounds like its starving for fuel. When motors run lean you will see white smoke. Or if its burning oil it will also throw white smoke. But you could smell the burnt oil. Need to put a fuel pressure guage on there. Could be the pump, or the fuel pressure regulator. But the fuel pressure guage will give you a better idea as to what it could be.

Parts store like Autozone or Advance Auto. Little pricey, like bout 60 bucks. See if someone has one and use theirs. If not then get one.

If EGR is bad the only thing it will do is make it run rich. You would see lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust mainly at WOT(wide open throttle).
