I have a 2001 Z71 LS. I just have the normal stock mirror. I would like to upgrade it to the one with the temp and compass on it. Is the connector for that mirror in the overhead compartments? or would it have to be wired from scratch? anyone done this before?

 

you would need everything..temp sensor,wiring etc..

BTW...that mirror is 500 clams

 

That sucks! I did find one at this site http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/aumiwiho.htmlthat has the homelink, auto dim, compass, and temp for 349. Looks like it comes with all the wiring also. That is looking like the best deal if I want to go that route. Thanks for the reply

Hi. Newest thread I found about mirror. Try before new post-

I have 02 w/ temp in mirror. No longer dispays. Was intermitant for a while (out for days, back for days) now seems gone. Green light still on. Is this the mirror unit or the probe?

 

You can get a temp gauge thing with inside and outside temp readings for like $14.95 it has sticky tape on the back.Stick it to your mirror.You can also get a compas,the ball kind in the water and stuck up there too.Around $9.95 so for around $25 + tax you got it all =] I'm a cheap redneck,sorry.

I have a mirror that shows the compass I know it will support temp as far as display....would I just need the temp sensor and maybe wiring?

My experience was the mirror itself.

Yes. Your mirror has pins (input) for the temp sensor, so you "just" need to mount the sensor under the front bumper and run the wires.
