I can not get the red brake warning dash light to go out. It will go out if I unplug the fluid level sensor on the resivor. I replaced the sensor and cleaned the resivor and it is still lite. any sugestions

 

start probing the wires there is probly a short

 

sure sounds sensorish...was it a gm p[art?

 

I could be the switch for the E-Brake that needs cleaned or replaced. I had to do that before on my 91'. Sometimes the spring to return the pedal wears out and it doesn't bring the pedal up enough to disengage the light.

 

I had a problem like this about four years ago with my '98 and I had to replace the front brakes and then it went away. You are talking about the emergency brake engaged light correct? Also what year and model is your truck?

 

If the light goes out when he unplugs ,the switch,it MUST be right there....full of fluid,I assume?

 

Maybe if the brake fluid is bad enough (dirty and/or worn out) it would throw a light? Maybe get them bled? I've seen brake fluid get pretty black before.

 

my buddy had the same problem with his truck... the brake light would jsut flash whenever the car was on, he broguht it to the shop and tey said it was the switch like jcbst12 said
