I've seen some Grills and Tailgates, Bow Tie emblems in Black.

Are they purchased black or refinished / painted ???

Some paint them but I have a black one and I bought mine off ebay. I love it, it's awesome looking. They make them in blue and red too. I think it's better to drop the 25-40 bucks on one instead of painting the one you have. If you buy from the right person you'll get a heavy steel one instead of the plastic one. Plus, you have a spare incase something happens to your new one. I can get some close up pictures tomorrow if you want. I think you can kinda see mine in my signature.

 

Ya I would love to see a picture of yours. I think I'll look on ebay for one.
It would be good to have a good quality one on the front grill so it can stand up to the abuse. Then maybe just sand and paint the one on the tailgate.

 

i just painted mine to match my truck ( Dark Metalic blue ) and i did that about a year ago it hasn't gotten any rock chips or anything and only took like 20mins todo and costed 7 bucks for the paint.
