I would just pay an audio shop install it. That is what I did for all three remote starters that I have installed.

If you need parts check with the audio stores they will probably have what you need.

What remote starter did you get?

After checking with the audio install stores I would call the manufacturer to see what they are talking about.

I know with my cadillac they had to install a baypass for the encrypted key. It was like $25 extra for that. So it all depends on your vehicle and what you need to have for your starter that you are installing.

Good luck!

Default I wanted to add Remote starter too but........

Like you said, and the place that i checked, said it was around $350 - $400 installed because of the factory installed security system. Needed a relay to work with/bypass it, IMHO, not worth $400. I have an '03 Silverado.

I would say it is if you live in a location that has extream temperature changes.
I used to live in ND and it got really cold there. So you just leave the heat on when you get out and when you are getting ready to leave you just start the truck and it is warm and ready to drive when you get there. I love it, I use it all the time, even now when I live in CA. I would say it is worth the 400 that it costs.
The next one that I get will have an alarm on it though.
