Default Removing #8 plug on '03 Silverado 5.3L

OK, I was able to change plugs 1-7 on my '03 5.3L Silverado but #8 has me stumped. The plug is angled towards the firewall and there is a shield in front of the plug that looks to be protecting the condenser. I tried everything I can think of to get at this plug. I can get a socket on it with a short extension or a socket with a flex adapater and extension but I cannot get leverage to turn the plug. If anyone has any tricks to getting to this plug and removing it, I would sure appreciate it.

Try using a spark plug socket with a hex head on it then put what ever wrench on the socket. This is how i did mine before i bought my snap on 5" deep spark plug socket with my flex head snap on 3/8" rachet (easy as pie then) but not everybody has those tools, but the socket wrench method works just fine.

Is there the same issue for a 4.8 motor?
