Default silverado problem front end 1995

Hello, I have a problem with my 95 Silverado. I went to grease it and check the ball joint/ tie rods and when I went to check the tie rods the whole assembly moved with the tie rod. Like the stabilizer bar shifts at the same time. everything is tight, could it be a bushing? Its not like extremely loose but it does move side to side and the tow looks off on the left side(more out) to the left than the right. HELP.

We will use this picture as reference as to what I'm talking about:

So, when you move your tie rod, the entire track rod, pitman and idler arm all move? Or when you jerk on the tire, the whole assembly( being wheel, spindle, and control arm) moves?

It's hard to say what's the issue here, but right off hand I would suspect your ball joint or control arm bushing.

Worn pitman and idler arm is my guess.

Its like the whole tie rod and track rod move, both tires have the same amount of play. there are 2 arms that come up from a plate to the track rod that looks to be the problem. what are these? I dont want to drive it from the play it does not look safe to drive. I did not think of a pitman or idler arm.

Yup, definitely the pitman and idler arm. I'm glad you came back to let us know what it was, and that you figured it out!

Hey, and also it has another problem. When you acc through or decel through 1000 rpms it surges but only when warm. It shimmys and that catches itself down and back up to 1000 when let off gas on the road. This makes me think that its a problem with the O2 sensor or the egr solenoid or something like that. Could this problem be due either. No check engine lights or anything. Distrib rot or cap? TB gasket? I dont know im kind of shooting in the dark. Does anyone have impute that can help me? also could it be an injector. Only when engine warm makes me think of a vaccum leak though. I can post a vid if you need!
