I vaguely remember some posts about the sun gear issue from several months ago. Alot of guys were having this issue, I would try searching "sun gear" on some of the old posts.

Been down this road for the last two years, two transmissions, dyno tune, etc. I repaired the 2-3 shift flair by replacing the throttle position sensor. At half throttle it has a quirk within the computer. My buddy is the trans guy at a gm dealership and suggested that....it worked. Other than that, try a predator and up the line pressure.

My drain plug didn't give me any problems, and it's been in for 58k miles. While my truck was on the hoist I used the impact wrench and pushed up really hard, worked well. The bolt is almost tapered,it looks likeit's designed to strip. Also I didn't have to take the heat shield or the shifting bracket off. Maybe my 80e is different then the 60e.

Never got the bolt out on mine either. That bracket gave me hell too. I technically never got the pan all they way down. I just dropped it enough to wipe it out and replace the filter. I wiped the gasket down, checked for cracks in it then put it all back together. I would recommend getting a Blitz pan ( one of those huge fluid catcher pans ) before someone trys this at home. Will that bracket come off? I didn't see where it was attached. I couldn't get the barrel thingy from the cable off the bracket either (cause of rust).

I don't know any good local tranny guys here in Knoxville, what do you guys think of AAmco, or another chain type place...I need to find somewhere besides the dealer to take it.

Thanks for the help!
I know a decent tranny shop in Knoxville, it's in east knoxville off of 5th ave. Can't think of the name but if you need it I can get it. I also know a great 'shade-tree' guy that does GM mechanic work who could probably refer a good tranny guy.

Just remembered, I do know a good tranny guy, but doesn't work at a dealer anymore. If you looking for that I could call him and see if he still does any work for folks.
