Standard Z71?

Standard Z71?
I have been talking to a lot of people recently and I have heard things like, "All 2002 Chevy 4X4's have a z71 standard suspension in them." The reason I am asking this is because I am looking at buying a 1500hd crew Cab. It has the 4X4 logo on the back on the bed but no Z71 logo. Does this truck have a z71 in it? The truck years are 2001, 2002, 2004...
Thanks for the Help,
Clayton

RE: Standard Z71?
The Z71 package is an off-road suspension package, basically it is bigger shockes, and skid plates. The stickers on the side of the truck that are factory stickers are correct. The newest body style comes in either two and four wheel drive in the Z71 package. The standard 4x4 package is a little cheaper. To answer your question about the 1500HD with the 4x4 logo on the back of the bed is correct as far as being just a standard 4x4 (not a Z71). So far chevrolet has never put a Z71 package in a 1500HD. Mainly becouse the 1500HD hasn't came out in the new body style yet! Good luck arguing with your friends!

RE: Standard Z71?
I think the only real differences anymore between the Z71 and standard are that the Z71s have rearends have limited slip diffs, bigger jounce bumpers and skid plates. Shocks are the same (least they look identical to me when I comapred the two). I know one thing is for sure they quit using Bilsteins
