Default Headers ??

Do you have aftermarket headers? -- Heat from headers can be harmful to a starter.

CHECK YOUR GROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!..........and all other connections for corrosion and make sure they are tight.............headers and shimming will cause this also

there is a short within the wireing harness. Break out a schematic and start tracing! Most possible cause of this problem. Stray voltage continuing to the starter after bendix release. Could also be the the key switch! Shoot your key hole with electrical cleaner and then drench with silicone spray to rule it out first. If the problem goes away then it's the switch.

highly suspect your key switch! Shoot electrical cleaner into the switch and then drench with silicone spray. See if that stops the short or stray voltage to starter when the bendix returns to détente position after release of key! Very likely cause my friend and i hope this helps.
