Starting problem

I have a 1996 Chev 1/2 ton 4WD 350 cu in. The truck will not start if it
sits for an hour or more unless I pour a little gas in the feed throat.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried flooring it for a second before turning the key and keep it floored to see if it catches?
