Default steering wheel controls

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission in the LS trim package. It came with the Bose sound system and my question is does anyone know if I can add the steering wheel with controls to my vehicle.

Check this website out bro. They have the goods I think you are looking for. Let me know if it helps.

I was actually wanting to add the OEM steering wheel with the controls. I called a local dealer and they could not answer the question for sure. They said they have not heard of it but they were not saying it could not be done

it would be pretty tough considering you have to remove the steering wheel, air bag, and add some wiring...but it can be done.

Can you remove the stock steering wheel with the controls and put astock steering wheel on instead? I know you can do this, so I guess my question really is... will it cause any check engine codes to flash and cause any electricalproblems? I would like to remove mine so when I install an aftermarket stereo I will not have any buttons on the steering wheel that are non-functional. I can not stand having buttons that do not have a function.

Why dont you just buy the kit that will let the buttons work with an aftermarket radio. Plus then you will still have all the other buttons thats on the steering wheel.

i think the only buttons that wont work are the radio buttons. your dic buttons will still function properly. i agree with the above statement, get the kit that allows the buttons to work with aftermarket radios.

Like I said in the earlier post... I do not like buttons that do not work. Besides the radio is in reaching distance. That is why I rather have a stock steering wheel with out the control buttons.
