Steering wheel vibration
I have a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic. I'm having trouble with a vibration felt in the steering wheel. It occurs at 45 mph to 55 mph. I've had it up to 85 mph and it does not vibrate at any speed above 55 mph. Ihad the tires road force balanced and put on Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires. I rotated the front tires to the rear and rear to front. Nothing changed. I jacked up the rear and set the rear axle on jack stands. Removed the rear wheels and brake drums. Ran the truck up to 45 to 55 mph. I felt a little vibration in the steering wheel during this test, but not like it is when driving.
When driving it is more noticeable when under light throttle in overdrive. When coasting it does not vibrate. I'm about ready to pull the drive shaft and have in balanced. The reason I have not had the drive shaft done is the vibration frequency is not a high speed vibration.
Sorry for the long post. But this thing is driving me nuts.
Has anyone here had any similiar problems. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,
Westex

Well, good news. The vibration is fixed. I put in a new drive shaft and that took care of the problem. Just thought everyone would like to know in case you have a simular problem. Normally the driveshaft does not cause the steering wheel to vibrate, but in this instance it did.
