I have been thinking about getting an sts turbo kit for my truck for a while now, I was wondering if you guys knew much about them? I have a 2005 z71 silverado 5.3L lifted up on 35's. Thanks

 

I love them and really really want one alot of guys got them on http://www.ls1truck.com/ and I never heard anything bad.

 

I have heard good things about them. The only problem I can see is the crazy lag you are going to get with it. Thats a lot of pipe with a lot of air to compress. I personally think you would be better off going with a roots supercharger. If not that, then a centrifugal supercharger. Since your truck is lifted and running big tires I really thinK you would appreciate the power curve you will have with supercharged v.s. turbo. But hey ultimatly its your $buck$. Shoot for the moon homie and best of luck. Post pics when you do get it...

 

I would love a supercharger but they are soo expensive! The sts kit is around 4k with everything you need to slap it on. Anybody know the cheapest rout to a supercharger?

 

there is not that much lag, we put alot of them on at my old performance shop (www.cartek.net) and they gave a great bang for the buck

 

I'd go turbo. Think about it, you can open the pipe up and slap the turbo onto it. Comming off idle, there will be some lag but you have alot of backpressure at that point to get the truck moving. Then as the turbo speeds up the back pressure is reduced allowing her to rev up quicker. So I think it would be a good balance.

 

I am assuming it would do a number on my tranny and rear end? Especialy since I am already running 35's. Im not sure if it would strain my drivetrain too much running at only 5-7 psi...this truck is my daily driver, and I take it on road trips all the time. With the turbo being mounted under the truck I wouldnt need to worry about it while mudding or driving on the beach or somthing would I?

 

Just say no to burnouts, get a larger or additional trans cooler and you might want AT LEAST a shift kit to take advantage of the power without killing the trans.
