I read on the forum that someone wascomplaining about the summit cat back system for a 5.3 liter chevy/ gmc truck. Anyhow I was wondering why that was. The person said that they had purchased a Summit Cat Back System and had wasted their money and learned a lesson the hard way. Can anyone explain this.

 

It was most likely me you heard. Well first off, all of the tubing is bent wrong and wont fit even remotely, It's not "do it your self" you need welding skills. The hangers dont line up (at least 1' off, It doesnt sound good at all, not loud enough. I know it's tempting because of the price, but save yourself 5 hours of swearing. My best suggestion is to go to your local muffler shop and get a quote for a flowmaster 40 cat back. They will do it right.

 

Shop around some of them will try and charge you to much. There is a shop out here that will do a header back all custom bent for 150. The only thing is you have to speak a little Spanish. I went there with a Mexican guy I work with and they told me dual all the way back with out the muffler or cats.

 

Even thoughthe Summit Cat back systemwas not loud enough did it make a difference in the performance and MPG; such as, the Flowmaster cat back system does?
