pop the cover off and count the ring gear and the pinion gear teethand divide the ring by the pinion= gear ratio

You can have the vin checked, or jack up the rear end, put the tranny in nuetral, and count how many times thedriveshaft turns to 1 turn of the tire. This will give you an approximate idea.

well im still having some idling problems besides the fact that im still breakin the 350 in, but im averaging about 15 or so in the city havent gotten a good chance to go down the highway on any trips.

I would guess the guy at the dealer madea mistake. It is probably 3.73. I don't think GM even offered a 2.73 in 2wd then. That would be rediculously high and undriveable.
