I would jack it up and give the tires a spin to confirm it. There is no way. I have a 2.72 in my jeep and has no power at all without a big down shift and milage sucks. If this is correct, it is so low you are driving out of your power band so the engine is lugging all the time.

Actually I was told a while back that the lower the gear ratio the better it was on the highway. Helps top speed and have more power at higher speed. I would think if it was 2.73 it would suck for towing but your gas mileage would bless you.

there is truth and not so much truth to that......to achieve optimum gas mileage, your motor need to be at an RPM as to where it doesnt have to down shift all the time, and isnt screaming RPMs....i know trucks equipped with 323s are GREAT gas mileage trucks if you dont try to pull anything with it.

alright well i found this website to be really helpful for identifing rear ends by production codes, mine being a GU2 says its a 2.73 like what the dealer said.
