Default Tightening Exhaust Manifoil To Exhaust pipe Spring Bolts

Friends,
How tight do I tighten my exhaust spring bolts? I just installed six new bolts, springs and nuts for my manifold to tail pipe connection and cannot find out how tight

One person told me to tighten till the spring is completely collapse which seem to me to cancel the purpose of having a spring. currently I have it about half way but that seem to loose.

My Chilton manual doesn't cover the spring bolts. I am thinking of collapsing the spring then backing off a turn or three.

This is not a pic of mine but just a reference, I could not find an image online of a SMB setup.
