Websites say they can add an extra mile per gallon or more because of airflow and stuff. But whatever, Iam not scientific. But anyway, does anyone have first hand knowledge on this? Do tonneau's help with better gas mileage or not? I am still getting one either way just to have the bed covered, but just thought i'd ask the general question. Thanks!

 

I saw no change in my milage after I added mine.

 

im kind of a dork ( lol) but i saw on mythbusters when they tested whether or not u get better gas mileage by removing the tailgate or keepin it up..they determined that u lose mileage if u removed the tailgate ( or put it down) because a closed bed creates a big air bubble behind the cab....reducing drag i guess.. i dunno if a tonneau cover would make u lose a little mileage but covering the bed would probably reduce that air bubble greatly

 

my dad had one on his 02 ext cab and he got about 1 mpg extra
