I own a 98 silverado 5.0. I recently bought a Hopkins trailer brake and the instructions tell me to "simply splice onto the OE connector under the dash." I know the cluster is under the dash, but i have no idea which wires to splice into. I know which wires control what on the trailer brake itself, but i'm not sure which wires to splice into. Does anyone have a diagram or any advice on what to do or what to buy?

James, here's a list of the wires in the main harness under the steering column. It came from a remote starter instructions. I'd make sure and stay away from any wires that run into a yellow plug, since those are the airbag wires. I hope this helps. If not, just let me know and I'll try to help you more.
