Truck possibly totaled need parts
Hello, am new to truck forum. My so beloved 2006 chevy silver ado 2500 hd crew cab was yesterday hit by another vehicle. I am doing research where to get parts for him, so he can life again. At this point I am not sure if he is totaled or can be fixed ( what i hope), does anybody has any ideas? I got hit on the right front side, and need probably new bumper, right front lights, possibly cooler, etc. also the doors were lengthwise t- boned. Both airbags deployed. I am alive, and pretty banged up, but I really love my truck. This is my first accident, I really don't have any experience with this. Anybody any ideas?
I hate to be so critical at this time for you, but you have a 2500HD ... does that mean you have the Duramax engine? Because if you have a Duramax diesel engine, the value of your truck definitely warrants being repaired. If your truck has a gas 6.0L engine, the resale value of the truck is less, but still pretty strong.
So you'll need an estimate and inspection. Was the suspension damaged? Frame tweaked or damaged at all? If it's just sheet metal and plastic damage, that's easy and cheap. If the cab was twisted, then you're in it for significantly more. I would get a good inspection done, probably at a dealer, and weigh that against your insurance deductible/possibly rate increase versus selling the truck and cutting your losses. Smashed trucks sell pretty well for their remaining good parts, so you shouldn't have much of an issue selling a smashed truck, especially if it has a Duramax.
